Our story

The Common Good Institute, a social enterprise dedicated to combating gender-based violence (GBV), was founded on the principle of prioritising the common good over the notion of a greater good when it comes to human beings. Our founder firmly believes that no individual should be sacrificed in the pursuit of a supposed greater good. Instead, we strive to create a world where every person has the opportunity to thrive and fulfil their potential, starting with the creation of safe homes as the foundation for individual well-being. Common Good Institute seeks to;

  • Show empathy and support to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Encourage them to seek help and provide information about available resources
  • Encourage schools, workplaces, and community organizations to implement prevention programs that address the root causes of domestic violence.
  • Advocate for the creation of safe spaces within communities, schools, and workplaces where individuals can openly discuss domestic violence, seek support, and share experiences without fear of judgment or retribution.

Having personally experienced the harrowing effects of violence, our founder understands the profound impact it has on survivors and the children raised in such environments. These firsthand experiences served as a catalyst for her to delve deeper into the complexities of domestic violence and its consequences. Driven by a desire to find effective solutions, she dedicated herself to studying these situations, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by survivors.
